Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim lost his cool during the first half against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils started the weekend in woeful 13th place, but they could shortly be overtaken by fellow strugglers Spurs who ended the first half in the lead thanks to James Maddison’s strike.
The England international managed to find the back of the net, while the Red Devils looked disorganised and wasteful in front of goal. Alejandro Garnacho in particular was guilty of squandering a glorious one-on-one opportunity.
So with the pressure mounting on Amorim, the tactician finally snapped, as he was seen yelling at his bench.
“Amorim is really angry. He is going mad at his bench. He is shouting at people,” noted Man Utd legend Gary Neville who is doing punditry on Sky Sports. “I’m not sure what he is angry about. The biggest problem l can see is how this team are set up.”
While managers usually turn to the bench to change the outcome of the contest in the second period, the Portuguese doesn’t quite have this luxury, as an injury crisis left him with a depleted squad. Amad Diallo could be out for the season, while Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro have also been ruled out for this particular contest.

Hence, Amorim’s bench comprises a host of youngsters with no experience on the senior level, with Victor Lindelof being the only first-team outfielder in the dugout.
Although the injury bug has certainly been damning for the Red Devils, the current situation raises further questions over INEOS’ competence, as they somehow managed to leave Amorim with a worse squad at the end of January, especially in terms of depth.
Let’s not forget that neither Antony nor Marcus Rashford were replaced, while their main attacking target Matthys Tel is playing on the opposite side of the pitch after sealing a transfer to Spurs.
