Legendary Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney might not be the humblest, but he at least admitted Cristiano Ronaldo did it better.
The two superstars played side by side between 2004 and 2009, with their partnership bearing a host of trophies, including a Champions League title in 2008. The pair’s rapport had its highs and lows, including the infamous incident in the 2006 World Cup when the England star shoved the Portuguese for complaining to the referee.
So while this wasn’t exactly the best friendship story Carrington had to offer, the two stars did well to co-exist on the pitch, with Rooney’s selfless, hard-working ethic proving to be an excellent foil for the flamboyant Ronaldo.
Moreover, the two men certainly had massive respect towards one another, which has once again been demonstrated by the Englishman’s latest stance on his old partner-in-crime.

During his visit to Dubai, Rooney did a skit with a social media influencer who asked him to remain silent until he hears the name of a striker who’s better than him.
“Don’t make a round until you hear the name of a better striker than Wayne Rooney,” said the presenter before dropping the names of some of the most outstanding bombers in the history of the Premier League.
“Carlos Tevez, Lukaku, Harry Kane, Luis Suarez, Didier Drogba, Erling Haaland, Sergio Aguero,” listed the influencer while Rooney remained unmoved.

But in the end, the 39-year-old nodded his head and replied with a simple yet expressive ‘yeah’ when Ronaldo’s name was brought up.
While Rooney has already hung up his boots and is currently trying his luck in coaching, CR7 remains active at Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr at the age of 40, as he continues to pursue his 1000th career goal.
