Manchester United have reportedly joined the race for Rafael Leao who is seemingly on his way out of Milan.
The 25-year-old has been playing his football at San Siro since making the move from Lille in the summer of 2019. During his time at the club, he rose from a mere young talent to become one of the best stars in Serie A. He was even named the league’s MVP after spearheading the club’s charge towards the Scudetto title in 2021/22.
The striker has often been described as a ‘luxury’ star, while Milan consultant and Zlatan Ibrahimovic firmly believes he’s one the best in the world.
However, the Portuguese forward’s rapport with the fans took several hits in recent campaigns, and the situation reached its climax this season. Leao has been accused of complacency as his levels tend to drop at times.
Therefore, many believe his time at Milan has reached its expiry date and it is past time for the two parties to part ways.
Could Man Utd snap up the services of Rafael Leao?
According to Fichajes.net, the Portugual international has attracted the interest of at least three clubs, with Man Utd emerging amongst his most keen admirers.
As the source explains, the Red Devils would are looking to to make a substantial investment to bring the mercurial talent to Carrington and link him up with his compatriot Ruben Amorim.
The Rossoneri star would effectively replace Marcus Rashford as he tends to harry the opposition from the left flank before cutting to the centre and either setting up a chance for a teammate or going for goal himself.
However, Man Utd could face direct competition from their crosstown rivals Manchester City who have reportedly identified as a replacement for Jack Grealish. Finally, Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal are on the lookout for a new star after parting ways with Neymar, so they have also set their sights on Leao, claims the same report.
