A report in the British press reveals how INEOS have threatened all Manchester United employees against leaking information, but this plan didn’t exactly work to perfection.
The club is currently enduring miserable times, and not just on the football pitch. While the Red Devils are lying 15th in the Premier League (not so far from the relegation zone), the club’s headquarters have been turned into a bleak working place.
Since the arrival of minority owners INEOS (who are in charge of the day-to-day operations), a series of unpopular decisions have been undertaken. This includes a major lay-off that saw 250 persons losing their jobs.
Nonetheless, even those who have been lucky enough to maintain their posts haven’t been exactly enjoying the work environment at Carrington, as they’ve been also affected by INEOS’ newly implemented measures, including a reduced Christmas bonus among others.

Moreover, The Telegraph has now revealed how Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada has sent an email to all club employees strictly warning them against leaking any information, saying it would result in an immediate sack.
So how did the employees respond to these leak threats? Well, apparently by leaking said threats!
“Anyone disclosing information outside of the club is breaching their obligations of confidentiality, and we are very clear that this will be considered gross misconduct,” read the email, seen by Telegraph Sport.
“To protect the club and its colleagues, additional measures are being put in place to prevent future breaches of confidentiality and also identify any persons responsible.”
This latest episode showcases the lack of trust reigning at Carrington as well as the fractured rapport between the club’s hierarchy and the employees. It also illustrates the sombre atmosphere that several former players and managers have cited as one of the main causes behind the club’s shortcomings in recent years.
