Ahmed Musa, the captain of the Super Eagles, has clarified that rumors suggesting he has stepped aside from international duty are not true.
Ahmed Musa did not play in any of Nigeria’s seven matches at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where the team finished as runners-up.
His last starting appearance for the national team was in 2021 during a World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde.
Ahmed Musa played for 67 minutes in a 2-0 victory during his most recent appearance.
He also had a seven-minute cameo in a friendly against Guinea in January.
Since his contract with Turkish side Sivasspor was terminated in February, he has been without a club.
Ahmed Musa clarified to reporters after organizing a friendly match that he only took a brief break from the national team but did not exit the team altogether.
